Carla Ventin is the owner of Mile26 Strategy Inc. Based in Ottawa, Canada, she has over 10 years experience in communications, project management, and government relations and has worked in the private, government, and non-government sectors in Canada and abroad.
Prior to starting her own company, Ms. Ventin was the Director of Communications to the federal Minister of Agriculture and later to the federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities. She worked as a consultant for three years at NATIONAL Public Relations in Ottawa and for the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs in Washington D.C. Ms. Ventin launched the first NATO public information and research centre in Hungary when the country joined the alliance in 1999 and the following year was a visiting lecturer at a Budapest university supported by the Canadian International Development Agency.
Carla Ventin earned the degrees of Master of Arts from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, Master of Arts in political science from the University of Waterloo, and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in political science from the University of Guelph, as well as completing university-accredited courses from Budapest’s Karl Marx University of Economic Sciences.
Carla Ventin is a registered lobbyist for two industry associations in the areas of renewable fuels and regulations and is a board member of the International Association of Business Communicators.
Ms. Ventin was raised in the fishing village of Port Dover, located in the rich agricultural region of south-western Ontario. She speaks English, Hungarian, Spanish and French. She has crossed the finish lines in marathons in Ottawa, Toronto and Athens and will contest the Boston marathon in April 2009.
